How to access CAESAR at Northwestern

To gain entry to CAESAR Northwestern;

  • You must visit caesar.northwestern.edu.
  • Click the “Login with your NetID to CAESAR” link.
  • This link should open the login page.
  • Provide your NETID.
  • Provide your password.
  • To access your dashboard, click the “Log In” button.

The CAESAR Northwestern homepage is tile-based, and all components and links can be found beneath their respective tiles. In addition, the homepage provides quick information, such as if you have a hold and what (and where) your next class is. After selecting a tile, the sub-items will be displayed in an easily accessible side menu.

How to activate your CAESAR account at Northwestern
Active members of the University community who have been entered into CAESAR Northwestern are issued NetIDs. The NetID Activation Code is provided to students by their school or admissions office.

Your NetID is your digital identity at Northwestern University. Typically, a NetID consists of three letters (typically associated with your name) and three or four numbers. Your NetID and your seven-digit student or employee number are distinct.

Your NetID grants you access to all of Northwestern’s tools and resources. You can activate your NetID after receiving an activation code from your department’s NetID coordinator by visiting NUValidate

  1. After receiving your NetID and activation code from your program’s admissions office, visit northwestern.edu/login to access NUValidate. Contact the admissions office of your program if you do not have your NetID and activation code.
  2. Enter your NetID in the Username field and the activation code in the Password field, then click Login.
  3. Enter your responses to four security questions. In the future, if you forget your password or let it expire by accident, you will be required to answer two of your security questions in order to reset it.
  4. Create a personalized password for your NetID.
  5. After activating your NetID and recording your answers to the security questions, you will be routed to a different website to activate your student email account.

How to change a lost or expired password

Once a year, you must change your NetID password. If you know your password (i.e., it is active and current), changing it is a simple process.

If you have forgotten your NetID password or let it expire without updating it, you must reset it. Self-resetting is the simplest choice if you have already established answers to the security questions.

  1. NUValidate can be accessed at northwestern.edu/login.
  2. Enter your NetID and leave the password field empty, then click Forgot Your Password?
  3. Respond to two of the security questions.
  4. Follow the instructions to change your password and click Submit.
