UNDERGRADUATE APPLICANTS APPLICATION AND CLOSING DATE

EVERY INTERNATIONAL APPLICANT MUST NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Submit a completed application form along with supporting documentation and a nonrefundable application fee of R200.
  • Free online applications are available
  • You may submit supporting papers to the application platform or send them to intappsdocs@listsrv.uj.ac.za.
  • Final School Leaving Results for Applicants with International Credentials or in Grade 12 (Final Grade 11 results)
  • Acceptable Passport, Identity Document, or Birth Certificate
  • Documents translated into English (Documents issued in any Language other than English)
    Provide evidence of English Proficiency where English was not the medium of instruction and learning (the University advises that applicants take the IELTS with an overall score of 6 and the TOEFL with an average score between 80 and 104 for undergraduate programs). You may also choose to take the University of Johannesburg English Language Programme Exam (UJELP).   • In the event that both first and second choices are unsuccessful, the International Admissions Office will provide international applicants who meet the requirements with an alternate choice option.

Applicants who are studying or have attended a university within or outside the Republic of South Africa are required to provide an academic transcript covering the period of study, particularly if they seek to receive exemption from modules or courses.

Degree seeking students

To enroll in a South African degree program, applicants must possess a South African National Senior Certificate with a degree endorsement. Admission to undergraduate studies requires a certificate of exemption from the Matriculation Board of South Africa for all international applicants with secondary school credentials earned outside of the Republic of South Africa. The following supporting materials must be submitted to the Matriculation Board at the following address:

  • Download Form M30 from the Matriculation Board’s website (https://mb.usaf.ac.za).
  • Certified copies of the applicant’s academic credentials, issued by the South African High Commission, and
  • Consulate, Trade Mission, or Public Notary in your country of origin
  • A copy of your passport or birth certificate that has been correctly certified by a South African High Commission, Consulate, or Embassy.
  • Trade Mission or Notary Public in Your Country
  • Documents translated into English (Documents issued in any Language other than English)
  • Matriculation Board-determined exemption fee (see webpage https://mb.usaf.ac.za).
  • Submit evidence of payment for the R562 Exemption fee, payable to the bank account listed below.
