Computing ID for SFU

The username before “@sfu.ca” in your SFU email address is your Computing ID. If your SFU email address is “[email protected]”, then your computing ID is “kipling.” It is not to be confused with the nine-digit student/employee number on your SFU ID card.

SFU’s Computing ID is your digital login to SFU’s available technology services, such as Wi-Fi, SFU Mail (email and calendaring), go SFU (course registration, tuition payment), SFU Canvas (lecture materials, assignments, etc.), computer labs, and online library service.

You will retain full access to most SFU online systems, including SFU Mail and goSFU, for one year after graduation (the last time you registered for courses). This allows you to configure email forwarding for your SFU Mail account and download files.

One year after leaving Simon Fraser University, IT Services will notify you via email at your SFU email address that your account will be converted to an SFU Limited Access ID in 12 weeks.

After twelve weeks, you won’t be able to use your Computing ID to get into SFU’s online systems as much.
